The Defenders - Again!

2012 came and went, and nothing spectacular happened. People breathed a sigh of relief, and laughed at those who had hunkered into bunkers or holed up in mountain caves to avoid some sort of global disaster. Life went on as usual.

Until 5 years later, when mutant powers manifested in people all around the globe.

Some had powers of awesome (HOLY SHIT TELEKINESIS), some had powers of suck (I CAN TALK TO ROCKS?!? THE FUCK KIND OF A POWER IS THAT?!?), and some had powers that seemed tailor-made for destruction (I POINT AT THINGS AND THEY EXPLODE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!). Fun and weird times were had by all as the world descended into a fantasy/sci-fi nerd's wet dream.

And then some shithead with reality-bending powers wondered what would happen if any of that supernatural shit was actually real.

Almost overnight, the mutated human population was lowered by a quarter as a plethora of every single supernatural creature from every mythology of every culture EVER suddenly became real and began chowing down.

Vampires. Ghouls. Were-creatures. Demons. Zombies. Bogeymen. Eldritch Lovecraftian horrors. Care Bears. Barney the Motherfuckin' Dinosaur. All of them real, and all of them hungry for that sweet, sweet human flesh... or hugs. It depends. Some of 'em wanted both.

For over a month, humanity fought a battle they weren't sure they could win...

And then another shithead found a genie and wished for all the supernatural shit to be transported to an alternate dimension.

And everything was okay again.

BUT...

Panic has gripped the Kingdom of Jodsh. An immense portal of EEVUL has appeared in the midst of Krapmodeerf Desert in the City-State of Treinten. From this portal greatly EEVUL things have issued forth, not the least of which is a huge castle bearing a disturbing similarity to the one destroyed by the Defenders of Jodsh during the Great Kots War. Queen Ada XV, recognizing possibilities for a repeat of the Kotnorb dna Danahos invasion, quickly sent word throughout the Kingdom.

"Where are the heroes? Where are the warriors? The Kingdom is in peril, and your strength is needed again! After nearly 500 years, Jodsh needs its Defenders once more."

Maverick was born from a clan of powerful wizards who could form pacts with the elementals to be able to use their powers. As he grew up, he studied under his father's strict tutelage. He hardly talked to others of the same age. Maverick is considered to be a prodigy in their clan as he was able to form pacts with 10 elementals in his young age. Having recognized his power, he was invited to the capital to be a knight to help protect the kingdom. Maverick is somewhat naive and a quiet person.

Maverick's manner of using the elementals' powers is through possession and summoning. Maverick uses an elemental and melds it with his own body. This transforms his body into a warrior that is able to manipulate the element corresponding to the spirit that he merged with. He can only merge with one spirit at a time. For summoning, he can temporarily give the elementals a physical body to attack his enemies. He can't summon more than one spirit at a time, he can't use summoning together with possession, and he can't use it for more than 3 times a day.

    The Absolute Shield brings no shield nor armor into battle. He however cannot be touched when he does not allow, as his defense is an absolute magic. Many want the secret to this spell of invulnerability, and they would likely go to great lengths to obtain it. Absol, as others would call him due to a recent rise in pokemon popularity, did not want to put his family and friends in danger. Thus, he hides his identity by literally shrouding himself in darkness (he completely stops light from hitting him). He wears a light hooded robe as to minimize the physical effort he has to exert, and likes drinking tea in his spare time and also in battle (possibly only an attempt to mock his attackers).

    He enjoys being in the thick of battle, as untouchable as he is. Robe swishing as he turns around to face enemies from all angles, not ever receiving something such as a scratch.

    While he is called the Absolute Shield, he is in no way immortal. That is because a shield can only protect one from the outside. Internal forces such as aging and the urge to sleep affect him every minute. Unfortunately, his absolute magic requires a constant stream of concentration, and will break when he sleeps. Coupled with his inherent inclination to sleep whenever he wants, this becomes his greatest weakness.

    To reduce the ability of others to identify him, he rarely talks. And when he does, it reeks of intellect and a superior choice of words. He may be specialized in defense, but even his offensive magic is way above that of the average mage. He is a genius who has hacked magic and derived the formula for the absolute defense, but he is far from reaching his ultimate goal -- The Absolute Sword.


Weapons:
  • Silver Dagger - a generic looking dagger that he can transfigure into other complex kinds of weapons; he usually transforms this into a teacup and saucer


Items/Equipment:
  • hooded robe - dark colored robe made from a lightweight material
  • Mana Hole - a generic looking necklace that actually gives him a near-infinite supply of mana; with this he was able to experiment with all kinds of magic resulting in his magic expertise; he rarely uses it now because it is very old and he fears it will break soon


Powers/Abilities:
  • Summoning - he can summon a wide range of otherworldly creatures, usually to guard him when he sleeps
  • Transfiguration - he can change the shape of a weapon or object into that which he desires
  • Ethereal Weapons - he can create a variety of weightless weapons to aid in more physically exhaustive fights
  • Enchantments - he can enchant an ally or allied weapon with magic, giving different kinds of useful effects
  • Curses - he can curse enemies, giving different kinds of disruptive effects
  • The Absolute Shield - he cannot receive damage and effects from an external source while this is active (includes allied buffs); he describes it as a reactive 100% efficient protective mana engine which intelligently converts mana into omniresistance per second

Biography/Life Story/Description:
    Heinz was once a priest. He was not a man of faith, but of easy survival. Collecting "donations" happened to be one of the most efficient means of income at the time. Also, the job provided him with a constant supply of zealots to satisfy his boring everyday life. Many things happened and he soon became a drunkard. One time he got so drunk that he passed out on some bar table and died. When he woke up, he was a floating silhouette of himself chained to a beer bottle. Somehow, he knew what he had to do. He had to make something smash the bottle so that he could "ascend" into whatever was up there. But he was a priest. He wanted to learn more about this being a ghost thing. Knowing that the bottle would eventually break from corrosion/external forces, he used his priestly knowledge to devise a way to keep his soul from ascending. He broke the chains (because apparently, innocent little beer bottle would ascend instantly when smashed, dragging his chained glob of soul up with it into the abyss).

    Now, after being a ghost for quite some time, Heinz is fed up and wants to experience the next stage. He is taking on the insane quest of repairing his broken chains, all the while making sure that his ticket out of here (the beer bottle) is safe from earthquakes, pointy things, and Gunter the penguin. His first task is to retrieve each and every shattered piece of ghost metal he so meticulously made sure to scatter all over the mortal realm. He wanted to be absolutely sure that he was ready to let go of his ghastly powers, because he didn't want to repeat the same mistake he made with his human life.

    His most recent findings suggest that his chain fragments were drawn gravitationally to the abnormal magnetic field of this "immense portal of EEVUL." Thus, he begins his quest by helping out those mortals with their portal problem. He likes almond-chip cookies and is secretly fond of the color yellow.


Weapons:
  • Chains - a decent length on each hand and foot.


Items/Equipment:
  • Beer Bottle of Ascension - Glob that sounds highly appropriate. Heinz found a way to keep it with him, for safety purposes.
  • Algebraic Satchel of Chain Fragments - This magical satchel computes for the remaining percentage of chain fragment mass to gather. (98.64% remaining)
  • Generic Priest Robe - Ironically grants a passive resistance to unholy attacks/effects.


Powers/Abilities:
  • Phase - Heinz can phase in and out of the physical world at will, though spending moments on this side gradually consumes his soul.
  • Dream Eater - He can filter out thoughts/emotions from sentient beings and eat them as a meal, restoring a bit of his soul. It can be used to motivate a party by devouring their negative emotions (or positive emotions if that's what you want).
  • Exorcism - He can perform a series of chants to OHKO any demon/undead entity.
  • Telekinesis - As a ghost, he can flail simple objects around with his mind.
  • Levitation - He can levitate effortlessly. Once he changes his phase to physical, though, he loses this ability.

Biography/Life Story:
    Eland is from Bagong Pi Si I, one of the two states where people have called themselves "the Inheritors of the Ancients' Will" since the Defenders saved the kingdom 500 years ago. As a child, he was fascinated by the stories he was told and dreamed of becoming one when the kingdom needed saving once more. At the young age of six, he was trained by both his parents in three different arts. From his father were marksmanship and squad tactics; and from his mother were swordsmanship and one of the region's power of the Ancients--summoning a Valkyrie companion. After seven years though, Eland just wasn't as fast at picking up the sword than the gun, so his mother decided to give him someone who can augment his skill (or lack thereof)--the Valkyrie, Skuld. She became his teacher from then on.

    Ten days before the portal of EEVUL appeared was Eland's 18th birthday. His parents gave him his own sword, forged by dwarves up further north about 12 years ago. Skuld said that the rune placed on the blade can absorb mana to repair itself, among other things. Eland gave his sword the name "Spellblade." With a joyous occasion such as this, little did they know that soon enough, Eland would have the chance to defend the kingdom from a new invader.

Weapons:
    Spellblade - a runed sword that can, directly, absorb mana from spells or, indirectly, its residue in an area, and store it. The energy can then be used to replenish the wielder's mana, strengthen or repair the sword itself, or fire a spell back. Since the sword can absorb mana, it can severely weaken barriers when struck. The amount of mana Spellblade is holding can be determined by the color of the blade's glow.
    Shotgun - standard issue 12-gauge. Made for shooting things, living or otherwise.

Items/Equipment:
    Fragmentation Grenade (x5)
    Flashbang (x3)
    Smoke Bomb (x3)
    Night Vision Monocular
    Ammo Box - contains an assortment of ammunition for Eland's shotgun, ranging from birdshot shells to slug rounds

Powers/Abilities:
    Overload - usable only when Spellblade has mana. Eland must stab an object (dead or alive, or inanimate) and say "Reverse" to infuse Spellblade's mana to it. Basically, that object can turn into a time bomb. Detonation time depends on how much mana the object can hold and how much mana was transferred.
    Air Edge - Eland's mana-amplified swings become fast enough to create sonic booms that can cut through steel and rock. This gives him range advantage, but most useful when his gun is out of ammo.
    Trinity Raid - a quick-step attack that seems to come from three different sides at the same time
    Summon Valkyrie: Skuld, the Future-sight - the summoning ritual requires a purple rose as a catalyst. She can have a corporeal form with sufficient mana from the summoner. Either way, her soul is bound to the summoner, thus disallowing either one to die. She is capable of seeing into the future, which helps in keeping both of them from dying too soon. Wielding two swords, Skuld is more than capable of holding her own. As a Valkyrie she can summon two einherjar: Cecille and Gaston.
      Future Sight - Skuld's ability to see the future, from a second up to the next day. Since her and Eland's soul are bound together, they can both see visions.
      Ascension - starts off by knocking enemies airborne, then beating them up mercilessly as they fall back down
      Rosa Cadenza - a lengthy yet very elegant dual-wield swordplay technique that tears up anything the swords touch
      Einherjar: Cecille, the Heavens' Songstress - has the song Realization, wherein she pictures something or someone in her mind and materialize it; usually it will appear beside that object. Cecille can enchant Eland's shotgun ammo, and whoever is hit will leak mana until the bullet wound/s is/are healed.
      Einherjar: Gaston, the Earthshaker - can cause localized earthquakes with a swing of his halberd. When Gaston brandishes his shield, he can create earthen projectiles hurtling at subsonic speeds, calling it Earth Power.
    Infinity Assault - combination attack that involves all four of them. The sequence is initiated by Eland to give time for Skuld to call upon both einherjar. Other Defenders can join in, if they want.
    [Locked] Seven Swords - one of the pinnacles of swordplay techniques, until someone does eight or more.

Biography/Life Story:


    A portal to the Kotnorb dna Danahos homeworld that mysteriously gained consciousness, it attained human form after years of devouring teens who stepped into his mouth as a dare. Every ten years, Yoloswag would choose a random location and revert back to his portal form to eat more unsuspecting fools and grow in power. Over time, the chosen locations became strategically placed near the abodes of powerful magi to siphon off their magic. This eventually caught the attention of the Jodsh Paladin Commander, John Dogs the Righteous. John used his Storm Bolts to close the portal, forcing Yoloswag to retreat into a small pocket dimension.

    After decades of hiding and observing, Yoloswag stepped out of his dimension. He assumed the appearance of a wimpy Tai Ping monk apprentice and took up some nerdy name to mask his true power and his Kotnorb origins. He acquired some very human tastes and just wanted to drink milktea forever.

    The portal of EEVUL reminded him of his original form and almost went back to his teen-eating ways. He joined the Defenders in their journey towards Krapmodeerf with the desire to EAT the portal of EEVUL.


Weapons:
    Nightmarish Staff of Herding - stolen from an old hag in the woods, this staff can turn targets into sheep, goat, or chicken. Best for channeling disables.

    Wormwood - stolen from some cultist priest, Wormwood bleeds the rancid milk-blood from the breasts of a murdered goddess. Poison spells and fear magic are strongest when cast through Wormwood. The goddess' milk-blood can also be 'purified' for healing purposes.

    Wand of Nagamar - a wand that can amplify or counter Power Words and any other form of spoken or written enchantments. Can modify the effects of spells or outright silence spellcasters.


Items/Equipment:


    Enigma - black and red tabard that serves as a mobile portal to Hammerspace, a closed space for thousands of generic magical equipment and "food storage"; also serves a cage for the horrible shadow monsters that emerge from the corpses of his past "meals".


Powers/Abilities:
    Ephemeral Corridor - can teleport himself or other objects/living things; create dimensional holes to avoid/redirect attacks. He can actually return to being a portal to help his allies but his Kotnorb energy will be instantly recognized.

    Living Shadow - transforms shadows into a tangible form; instant shields, lances and swords that can be wielded, projectile attacks, and tentacles for fun. The Unlife spell returns corpses back to life by infusing them with shadow essences stored in Hammerspace

    Void - the magic absorbed from all those poor magi allows him to copy other spells but the copies will always be of darkness affinity i.e. a fireball will retain its destructive power but will not be stronger against enemies that are weak to fire

    The Soul Thresher spell, which falls under this ability, is a dangerous slow-moving sphere of absolute destruction.

Biography/Life Story:
Sage Soulstead, a mysterious lady who suddenly appeared in The Kingdom of Jodsh, is one of unknown origins and enveloped in myth. Her name appears briefly in the oldest of Jodsh religious manuscripts, mentioning how "The One Sorceress of God" simultaneously created and banished evil from the land.
    ...the fourth solstice shall bequeath,
    The One Sorceress revived,
    on promised night devoured the souls
    and giveth to God

Her motives remain unclear, but her power is beyond comprehension. Able to forge the souls of ancient past into the physical realm, Sage brings beings of pure myth into existence. Her conjurations transcends legend and belief, as gods and titans, dragons and immortals, bend to her will.

Weapons:
    Aŋra Mainiuu - The destructive spirit, Sage's long staff. It was not a name given by Sage herself, but by the ancient priests and worshipers who witnessed its destructive power and perfect control over the souls of the ancients. She uses the staff to draw the magic circles required for summoning rituals. She can draw circles anywhere: in thin air or even in the surface of other magic. The staff itself is useless without Sage, as it can only be used to open the gates of myth, which only she can control.

Items/Equipment:
    Athuramazda - The uncreated god, Sage's "armor". Forged from the souls of 77 angels and demons, Athuramazda prevents Sage's summoned beings from harming her or disobeying her commands. The moment the armor was worn, it attached itself to Sage's own soul and can never be taken off nor destroyed.

Powers/Abilities:
    Soul Forge
    Sage summons any mythological creature or persona, granting Sage full command of its powers. She needs to create a magic circle from which the being manifests itself. The magic circle need not be large, but usually requires a catalyst that's related (directly or indirectly) to the creature being summoned. The catalyst need not be a material object, but may be an event, a condition or state of affairs.
    If Sage is to summon without a catalyst, she needs to draw a significantly larger magic circle and consume souls. Souls, of course, can be retrieved from corpses, haunted places, or even living beings (if she really needs to).

Holy shit ako na lang pala walang character. Pasensya, I was lost in the wilds of Skyrim. We start next week pag natapos ko na yung turn orders, route, at general storyline.

Biography/Life Story:

No-one is sure where the Stickmen came from, although it is estimated that they have been around for 500 years. The first historical records of the Stickmen were noted at around a few years after the Kots War, leading many to believe they were some form of Kotnorb. The Stickmen themselves believe that they are descended from the plant-men created by Emeraude (one of the original Defenders, an Avatar of Gaia, and the patron Goddess of the Stickmen). Both claims carry a seed of truth: the Stickmen came into being from Emeraude's Anima Botanica seeds becoming infused with Kotnorb energy.

Stickmen culture is a primarily martial one revolving around powers (Yari) and artifacts (Armas). Yari are innate powers that Stickmen are born with, and these run the spectrum from elemental manipulation to standard superhero fare (super strength, speed, flight, etc.) Armas are personally-crafted weapons often used by Stickmen to channel their powers. From birth, Stickmen undergo a rigorous mental and physical training from their parents or mentors in the use of their powers. At the age of 10, a Stickman is expected to have crafted their first Armas, after which they will be allowed to participate in the RHG - Rock Hard Gladiators - a brutal tournament that is held every 10 years. RHG fights are brutal and often to the death - both participants know that the winner is within his rights to take the loser's Armas and/or Yari.

5 is a veteran Gladiator who has managed to survive through several RHGs. He has been the Grand Champion of the latest RHG, and when news reached them about the Portal of EEVUL and the need for Defenders, the Stickmen voted to send him as their representative.

Weapons:
    Succo - A two-pronged serrated stiletto dagger made from dragonbone enchanted to steal a victim's life force and transfer it to the wielder. Inscribed with magic runes to make it indestructible.

    Muto - A weapon that changes shape depending on the wielder's will.

    Runa - A small throwing knife enchanted to return to the wielder after it hits the target.


Items/Equipment:
    Affectu - A pair of wristbands that send out ethereal needles attached to strings. Sentient beings hit by the needles are forced to experience any emotion of the wielder's choosing.

    Scintilla - A small, pen-like object that can be used to either produce a spark or spit out tiny fireballs.


Powers/Abilities:

    Stickman Blood - All Stickmen have superhuman strength, durability, reflexes, and a hyper-accelerated healing ability.

    Split - 5's primary Yari is the ability to split into five bodies, all of whom share the same consciousness. Each body has a distinct Yari, body color, and wields a particular Armas. The white body, aka "W", wields Succo and has the power of instantaneous teleportation.The yellow body, aka "Y", wields Runa and has the power to create perfect clones of himself and anything he touches.The blue body, aka "B", wields Muto and has shape-shifting powers.The red body, aka "R", carries Affectu and has perfect empathy.Finally, the green body, aka "G", carries Scintilla and has gas-based powers.

    Merge - The next level of 5's Yari enables him to fuse all 5 bodies together. In this form, he is freely capable of wielding all five Yari of his individual bodies as well as all 5 Armas. While in this form, he becomes noticeably taller, with a black body color and a white head without facial features.
